Call for Applications: World Bank Group Youth Summit 2025 (Fully Funded to World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C., USA)

This event is an incredible opportunity for youth to engage with urgent global issues while connecting with peers from across the globe. Held on May 19-20, 2025, the summit promises to be a vibrant gathering of young minds centered on innovation in climate action, digital transformation, and creative industries.

About the Youth Summit

The World Bank Group Youth Summit is the largest annual event for youth (ages 18-35) organized by the World Bank Group. This year, the summit will be a hybrid event with activities and engagements both at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, DC, and across various regions. The highlight of the summit is the WBG Youth Summit Pitch Competition, showcasing youth-driven solutions that have the potential to shape a sustainable and inclusive future.

Themes of the 2025 Youth Summit

The 2025 World Bank Group Youth Summit is dedicated to the theme “New Horizons: Youth-Led Innovation for a Sustainable World.” This theme is explored through three transformative areas:

  • Digital Transformation & Data: This theme focuses on how youth leverage technology, including AI and big data, to drive economic growth, bridge the digital divide, and create a future-ready labor market.

  • Climate Action & Resilience: This theme explores innovative solutions for green technologies, smart cities, and sustainable agriculture, showcasing how young leaders can combat climate change while creating job opportunities.

  • Creative Industries: This theme highlights the role of arts, media, and fashion in fostering employment, promoting social and economic change, and preserving cultural heritage.

Who Can Apply?

Teams that fulfill the following requirements are eligible to participate in the World Bank Group Youth Summit:

  • Age: All team members must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of the application deadline.

  • Nationality: Each team member should be from one of the World Bank Group member countries.

  • Solution Relevance: The proposed solution must address at least one of the three thematic pillars (Digital Transformation & Data, Climate Action & Resilience, Creative Industries). Cross-thematic and scalable solutions across more than one pillar are also accepted.

  • Deadline: Applications must be submitted by January 26th, 2025, 11:59 pm EST.

Participating in the World Bank Group Youth Summit offers numerous benefits:

  • Fully Funded Travel: Travel expenses, including lodging and a nominal stipend for up to three nights, will be covered for one representative per team. The representative must obtain a valid U.S. visa for their travel.

  • Networking Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to pitch their ideas to potential investors and receive tailored mentoring.

  • Alumni Network: Admission into the inaugural World Bank Group Youth Summit Alumni Network, along with other virtual and in-person initiatives, will help elevate the finalists’ stories and solutions throughout the World Bank Group network.

  • Registration Opens: December 18th, 2024

  • Proposal Submission Deadline: January 26th, 2025, 11:59 pm EST

After submitting your proposal, it will be evaluated by an expert committee. Shortlisted individuals or teams will be announced by early April and will proceed to the next stage. Finalists will join the 2025 World Bank Group Youth Summit at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
