Call for Applications: Paid GLF Remote Internship Program 2025
The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), an initiative launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF in partnership with UNEP, the World Bank, and the Government of Germany, invites applications for its prestigious 2025 Remote Internship Program. Dedicated to fostering meaningful engagement with youth and marginalized stakeholders, the GLF is committed to empowering individuals who are passionate about sustainability and landscape restoration.
Overview of the GLF Remote Internship Program
This paid internship program offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the GLF’s mission of creating sustainable landscapes while gaining hands-on experience in areas aligned with your expertise and interests. Spanning nine months, the internship will run from February to December 2025, providing a fully remote work arrangement that welcomes applicants from all time zones, with a preference for CET or similar zones.
Responsibilities and Team Opportunities
Interns will be assigned to one of the following dynamic teams based on their skills and preferences. Each team offers a distinct focus area, ensuring a tailored and enriching experience for participants.
1. The GLF Youth Program Team & Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL)
Interns on this team will support the GLF Youth Program in expanding the Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL) network. Activities aim to promote community building, facilitate the Restoration Stewards program, and address regional needs in youth-related initiatives. Responsibilities include:
Organizing and planning upcoming youth programs.
Preparing meeting agendas and taking detailed notes.
Designing and managing social media content.
Leading and coordinating volunteer teams.
Conducting research on inspiring young professionals making a difference.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about youth-driven actions, intergenerational collaboration, and facilitating meaningful conversations. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
2. The GLFx Program Team
The GLFx team oversees the “GLFx chapters,” which are local organizations dedicated to restoration activities. As an intern with this team, you will:
Assist in the planning and execution of GLFx programs.
Develop and manage social media content to boost engagement.
Build and nurture online community connections.
Facilitate meetings and discussions.

3. The GLF Communication Team
This team focuses on digital storytelling and multimedia engagement to amplify GLF’s impact across various platforms. Responsibilities include:
Creating and scheduling engaging social media and multimedia content.
Supporting live event coverage and audience interaction.
Researching and implementing best practices in digital communication.
Collaborating with journalists, influencers, and other stakeholders.
This role is suited for creative minds with a passion for digital storytelling and hands-on experience in communication campaigns.
4. The GLF Knowledge Team
The Knowledge Team ensures the organization’s vast expertise and insights are accessible and impactful. As a knowledge intern, you will:
Help organize GLF’s hybrid and digital events.
Assist in speaker engagement and coordination.
Optimize multimedia resources within the Knowledge Hub.
Provide general support for team planning and coordination.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy research, organization, and engaging with diverse sustainability topics.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should meet the following qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an MSc program in Environmental Sciences, Sustainable Development, Environmental Communications, Environmental Education, Political Science, or a related field. Alternatively, a BSc graduate with two years of relevant experience (voluntary or professional) may also apply.
Proficient in English; additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese are highly desirable.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with social media content creation, online engagement, and event management is an advantage.
Familiarity with tools like WordPress, Canva, and Trello is a plus.
Comfort with remote work and virtual collaboration.
