About the BEA Scholarship Awards
The BEA scholarship program is designed to foster educational collaboration between Nigeria and various partner countries. For the 2025/2026 academic session, scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in diverse fields. Here's a breakdown of the available opportunities:
Undergraduate (UG) Studies

Engineering

Biotechnology
Architecture
Medicine (limited)

Postgraduate (PG) Studies
Available for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia, as well as in China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania, postgraduate studies cover all fields at both the master's and PhD levels.
Eligibility Requirements
Undergraduate Scholarships
To qualify for the undergraduate scholarships, applicants must:
Possess a minimum of seven (7) distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) only, in subjects relevant to their field of study, including English Language and Mathematics.
The certificates should not be more than two (2) years old for non-African countries (2023 & 2024) and one year old for African countries (2024).
Be between the ages of 17 and 20 years.
Postgraduate Scholarships
For postgraduate scholarships, applicants must:
Hold a first degree with a minimum of 1st class or at least 2nd class upper division.
Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C.) program.
Be no older than 35 years for master's applicants and 40 years for PhD applicants.
Provide N.Y.S.C. discharge or exemption certificates.
Demonstrate readiness to be released by their employer, if applicable.
Application Procedure
Given that BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one-year foreign language course in the country of their choice, which will be the medium of instruction.
Specific Application Steps
Hungarian Scholarship Applicants: You can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference by visiting the Stipendium Hungaricum website from mid-November until January 15th, 2025. Complete the application form online.
Russian Scholarship Applicants: Visit the Russian Education website to complete your application. For postgraduate applicants, ensure you acquired your 1st degree in Russia. Documents should be properly scanned in PDF format.
Document Upload Requirements: For both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, the following documents should be uploaded online:
Undergraduate (UG): WAEC/WASSCE certificate and NIN slip.
Postgraduate (PG): 1st Degree certificate, NIN slip, and NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Note: All prospective Russian scholarship candidates must have an international passport and the original WAEC certificate before applying. Those with the 2024 WAEC certificate should download a digital copy from the WAEC portal and upload it to the Russian portal.
Final Steps
Candidates nominated by the Board will need to submit additional documents to the Federal Scholarship Board, including:
Authenticated copies of academic certificates.
Data page of the current international passport.
Specified medical reports from government hospitals.
Birth certificate and indigene letter.
Police clearance certificate, where necessary.
