NIN - NIMC : Correct and Update Any Errors on Your NIN by your self. Step by Step Guide.

Here, am going to guide you on the steps to take in modifying your NIN details online from home, through - NIMC portal.




The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the shifting of all its National identification Number physical enrollment centers nationwide online.




This great move majorly aims at stopping the usual long queues and stresses been experienced by many who visits physical NIMC modification centers to update their NIN details all over the country.




National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is now directing and urging all NIN holders to embrace its self service modification portal to update their details which it says offers a more smooth and secure processes.




According to NIMC in a notice released on Wednesday, "Modification activities will no longer be conducted at our enrollment centers. Instead we have launched a convenient self service modification portal, empowering you to update your information securely and efficiently online".





This self modification portal allows users to update their NIN details such as name, address, phone numbers and date of birth.




By this shift to online system, NIMC aims at eliminating long queues and improve service efficiency, making the process easier for the citizens.





The portal can be accessed on the NIMC's website after verifying you'r NIN.

Payment for name updating, phone number, or address:
#1,522.50.



Payment for modifying the date of birth is set at:
#16,340.




Updating through Short code:
To be able to use NIMC Short code, make sure your phone number is linked to your NIN registration.




To use the Short Code, take the following steps:

Step 1: Dial the short  code, * 346# on your mobile phone.


Step 2: Select NIN modification, option from the menu.


Step 3: Enter NIN, here you are to enter your 11 digit National Identification Number (NIN).


Step 4: Verifying NiN, here you verify that your NiN is correct before moving to the next step.



Step 5: Select modification option, here you select the modification option you want to update - be it your name, address, phone number etc.



Step 6: Enter new details, the new details you want to update is entered here.



Step 7: Confirm Changes, confirm that the new details are correct.


Step 8: Receive confirmation code, here you receive a confirmation code via SMS.



Step 9: Confirm modification, enter the modification code to complete the modification process.



Step 10: Receive update confirmation. Here  you will receive a confirmation message indicating that your NiN has been successfully updated.
