Empowerment Opportunities For Individuals With Business Training and Grant Through Livelihood Support Program. LSG.

The Lego's state Government, through WAPA - Women Affairs and poverty alleviation has launched a livelihood support program targeting over 5,000 vulnerable individuals including economically active but struggling residents both youths and women.







According to Mrs Toyin Salami, head of disbursement link indicator (DL.1.3) at WAPA " the initiative is part of the Nigerian community action for resilience and economic stimulus (NCARES) DL.1.3 program which aims at providing financial and skill building support to help beneficiaries sustain and grow their businesses".







A facilitator in the Coker Aguda local council Development Area, Mrs Saudat Salami in one of the two days training events made it clear that the major challenges the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) do face these days lies on lack of proper entrepreneurship skills. She emphasized that having essential business skill is Paramount for the success and growth of any enterprise, even if the individuals posses technical abilities in their fields.







She further pointed out the need for the participants to formalize their businesses by registering them. Joining associations and seeking collaboration, Book keeping and marketing according to her is also very essential for the growth of any establishment.







The Livelihood Support program is part of the Lagos state government's efforts in promoting economic resilience and poverty alleviation among vulnerable populations.
The program leverages Lagos state's social register which contains over 25,000 names of poor and vulnerable residents.







To qualify, you must already be engaged in business.



The beneficiaries stands to benefit from:

* Business training
* One time grant which shall be paid directly into their bank accounts to further support them in ensuring their business success and growth.







The program has empowered over 25,000 individuals in previous phase while currently, aims at doubling the figure to 5,000 beneficiaries.
